Encrypting work documents

Hey, fellow nomads. Do you use some kind of encryption software to secure your work related documents while traveling? I'm usually an optimist, but it's always possible that my laptop gets lost or, even worse, stolen. Then all of my hard work could get exploited. So I started looking into methods of security that would not alter my workflow too much. So I came across NordLocker - it's free and I can even edit the files which are already encrypted which is pretty dope if you ask me.
Do you guys have any thoughts on this? Perhaps I'm being paranoid, but my work is important to me so I think it's worth taking extra steps of precaution.
