Everybody needs to feel useful. (I think)

Everybody needs to feel useful. At least, that's why I believe.

That's my case, and I think this is the case for a lot of us. We struggle to find projects, to find meaningful purposes.

I think it's safe to say that we all have things in which we are better than others, because we love these things and we worked hard on them. Or simply because we are naturally good with these kind of things.

This doesn't really matter.

I'm fairly good at programming. My brother starts doing music with his piano and I think he's pretty talented. I've got friends that know how to draw different kind of stuff. You may be able to craft beautiful things with your own hands, or simply have a good sense of how clothings fits together.
You may be a good story teller.
You may know geography or history better than anyone.
You may be pretty good with animals or with plants.
You may have a voice capable of giving emotions to people.

I think you get my point.

When you have a skill like this, what can you do with that ? If you're lucky and willing to be hardworking on this, you can start a business on this.
Or you can just continue to keep this as a hobby.

People need to feel integrated in group. We're social creatures. Some of us are introverts and don't like being put in the light in front of everybody. That doesn't mean that they don't like to participate in larger projects.

Because, with your skill, what will you do ? Open a Youtube account ? Create a profile on Twitch ? Create a new blog ? That's fine. If you do this, you have a lot of courage.
Because it takes time, being alone, managing 100% of what you do is pretty tiring since you have nobody to lift you up.

That's why I wonder.
There's collaborative communities, like Github. But that's for a very specific category of skills and people.
But is there a more global community like this?

Like, somebody creates a game on X or Y. And he asks :

• "Okay, I need a spooky music for this scene"
• "Can someone please read this text out loud for me please ?"
• "I need an artwork to display in the background of that room"
• "Is this timeline correct, did I miss anything?"

And people would just reply and send stuff to collaborate to this project. At least they would be named in the project and maybe at best, they could receive something (money or not). At least recognition.

I don't really know. I didn't think this all the way through. I'm writing what's on the top of my head.
