Experiences with Twilio for indie hackers?

I want to build a little waitlist SaaS and need the ability for businesses to notify their waiting customers via SMS. I looked into Twilio and it's daunting with the compliance and 10DLC approval etc. It looks like I don't necessarily need an actual registered business with EIN, I can register as a "sole proprietor brand", but I'm not sure how indiehacker-friendly it is? I need to provide them a full live public website to get approval, pay for someone to vet my campaigns, and apparently approval can sometimes take months.

All of this seems doable but is starting to turn me off the idea as I like to start as more of a sideproject and get more serious as I get customers. I'm wondering if anyone else has setup Twilio and your experience was like. Should I drop the idea if I'm not willing to jump in head first from the start?
