Exploding Meeting Rooms?
Product idea:
Someone asks you for a 5-minute video call or similar. You send them a link to a meeting room. When both people have joined, starts a timer and when the time is expired it kills the meeting. Ideally, animation of the room exploding at the end and other fun stuff.
Already exists? Or not?
Interest level from the IH crowd?
I would not have to build from scratch, could be added into my existing product ContactLink and might be a fun publicity stunt / Product Hunt launch / way to raise interest.
Check out https://www.talkini.com/. It's a similar (same?) idea. Maybe you could make similar and market it (aghh, I don't like that word) for education or similar.
Of course, first check if there is sufficient interest etc.
Talkini looks great! It's a general purpose tool, like ContactLink, with some added features around charging for your time.
What I want to do with Exploding Meeting Rooms is have a fun landing page, a fun add-on feature, something people want to share and tell everyone about. Something viral.
But Exploding Meeting Rooms is not a tool you use every day - it's a novelty. So it works best as a way to introduce people to a larger product that is useful every day.
I think it sounds like a cool concept. The broader idea, of having a menu of limitations that you can put on a video call (another idea - randomly allow only one person to be talking every 5 minutes) is also really cool.
Go for it! But maybe don't actually build first, just market with waitlist.
Ok, so I can say this is an upcoming feature of ContactLink, market a page to collect email addresses in a waitlist, and when/if there is sufficient interest build it. Seems reasonable.
