Feedback on our first side project: Menuffy

Hello Indie Hackers,

We just launched our first side project idea, Menuffy. ๐Ÿฅณ๐ŸŽ‰

It's a platform for creating digital menus for your restaurant and sharing them using a QR code. We charge a monthly or yearly subscription to host & create unlimited menus in our user friendly menu creator.

We want to focus on user experience as part of our added value, since really no other website right now cares a lot about it.

The link to our website is: https://menuffy.com

We'd love to get some feedback on things we can improve on our website, as well as any ideas you might want us to hear.

Thanks! ๐Ÿ‘‹

    Hi Eli,
Congrats and good luck. I'm sorry to share some bad news. I have tried the same back in May (https://www.hygienicmenu.com) and did cold emails for around 50 restaurants locally, guess the response rate? 0!

Then after the first lockdown, I went to many restaurants myself (Eat out to help out) and using the normal menu wasn't an issue at all! It is user behaviour and changing that behaviour is not an easy task.
I offered FREE menu, free hosting and free setup and got zero users. It might be that the market I targeted was different from yours (I tried in London).

Good luck and I hope you'll find success in your project.

Hello, we'll definitely take this into account! You're right, transition isn't easy for many, but we've gotten a good response from a couple restaurants that look to adapt even more in this lockdown situation so we still plan to try by focusing on customer conversion just like some other people here commented out.

Thanks so much for taking the time of writing this response! ๐Ÿ˜

Reminds me of the Side Projects launched by levelsio : https://qrmenucreator.com/
    It's free, easy to edit.

I wasn't aware of this๐Ÿ˜ฎ. I think building your menu with markup lang is kind of confusing. It's also not actually responsive, no accounts, and saves your menu with an e-mailed link?
I believe our added value is more on the user experience side, but we'll make sure we get a bigger differentiator. Thanks for the feedback!! ๐Ÿ˜

Hey Eli, great idea and congrats on the launch! I took a look at the landing page and I do agree with silvi on adding screenshots of the platform and if possible some testimonials of people that have already used it and who liked it as it'll give more trustability to potential users. On the pricing, you only show the 15 per month, maybe you can add on the landing page the yearly subscription which could be less per month but they commit to stay with you the whole year.

Keep working on it, I think it's a great idea!

Hello Andres, thanks for taking the time to review our landing page.

You're right, we are already working on some animated screenshots of the functioning app to add to our landing page. Also, thanks a lot for the tips on improving our trustability and conversion, we really appreciate them.

Hi Eli, Congrats on the launch! ๐ŸŽ‰ This seems like a really cool idea overall! I just had a look at the landing page, and I'd love to see screenshots of the application in action, or even a quick demo added somewhere. I think it would help potential customers decide on whether to subscribe to a plan, etc., Great website otherwise!
