[Feedback Request] Testing an Idea (content writing as a service)

I just had an idea for a productized service and wanted some feedback. Would you pay for a content writing service that would provide you with SEO optimized blog articles for a monthly fee? Topic and keyword research would be performed for you.

Off the cuff pricing ideas:
$199 for 4 articles a month.
$449 for 12 articles a month.

All articles would be written by native English speakers, contain all original content, would be between 1000 and 1500 words, and include a banner image to be used on social media posts.

Infographics or data charts would be included for an additional fee.

SEO doesn't only depend on the content, it also depends on the Blogging part of the website as a whole. Insource the entire blogging section for your clients
If you have any proven record to show that the article written rank or help rank better than the above price is reasonable.
I am into Crypto and writing an SEO optimize article is possible but writing a article thats useful to a niche section need some core understanding of that session. Having subsection based on the topic might help you play it to your strength.

    Hope it helps.

P.S: I would really appreciate if you can help me with my landing page ( https://www.indiehackers.com/post/c9ccd0a126 ), thanks

There are tens of services like, the problem is that if you want compete on price, your margin will be incredibly low. The cost of the writers alon will eat you something like 80% of your revenue.

There are already a lot of content marketing agencies that do this. It's not a bad idea, and it isn't impossible to stand out in a saturated market (we've got some articles about doing just that on IH), but it's worth considering.

One angle might be to aim for a lower price range / small budget area, since a lot of current agencies are going for massive companies that can pay enterprise prices.

People would and definitely do pay for content writing of all varieties.

That said, it appears you are looking for high quality, reliable writing, and for that I would hazard to guess your price points are quite low. I suggest that based on the fact my wife is a writer, and I know what they charge for their services; but I also admit I'm not an expert in the field you're looking to enter, so take my thoughts with a grain of salt.

    Best of luck!

Yea the balance between quality and price is a razor's edge. I'm still evaluating the idea before I jump in. Do you mind me asking what your wife charges for her writing? I've seen prices ranging from $0.02 to $0.10 per word. I'm constantly reminded that "you get what you pay for," but people don't wanna pay high prices.

I suppose some writers may charge by the word, but my admittedly incomplete understanding is charging by word is primarily how writers charge for editing services.

Content creation, I'd believe, is primarily charged by time. I am in Canada, so this may not apply to you, but content creation for a good writer will range between $50-$100+/hour. I'm sure many charge much more than that, and I'm sure you will find students or other desperate people that will do it for less (quality may vary!).

I invite anyone with a more complete understanding of this to chime in, but this is my recollection of how things are here.

Idea has been proven 100 time over to work.

What do you have that makes it unique? Or what strategy do you have to get clients?

It's tailored as a fully executed content marketing strategy for those that need to focus on other things. Turnkey blog posts that you can put on your blog. Almost like hiring a marketing company, but a lower cost. I feel like content marketing in itself would be the ideal way to get clients (practice what you preach).

Getting ranked for "SEO" is extremely competitive.

This company does 2 articles a month and charges $850 https://audienceops.com/

I have seen other companies that do 4 articles for $89.

Yea I wouldn't be targeting something as broad as "SEO." The price range of these services seems pretty broad though. Vetting of writers would be a priority.

Thanks for sharing! My first thought is that this service is already out there through marketplaces like Fiverr, Upwork, etc. but would really make me more interested is if you had an amazing vetting service so that I know the quality of the writers are top-notch. Put the people front and center and make sure quality is the purpose.

Yes, that would definitely be the focus. This pain point came from working with so many terrible writers on Fiverr for one of my own ideas.
