When my co-founder and I launched Orbiter, we didn't know what to expect. We were fortunate to land six paying customers within the first few weeks of our launch and have passed 100 total customers so far.
We wanted to understand the why behind the first six paid subscriptions, because if we can better understand how our customers' whys align with how we are positioning the company, we can lean into the value props better.
Orbiter is a static website and web app hosting platform. But we are trying to bring back the simplicity and fun of the old web. You simply upload your files, and your site is online in seconds. Nothing complicated. No devops team or CI/CD pipeline failure fatigue.
At least, that's how we pitch it. Now, we'll find out how well that aligns with what our paying customers think and adjust as needed.
I have done this on a larger scale at companies I've worked for and I highly recommend all the Indie Hackers out there do this. If you have fans and happy paying customers, figure out their why. They will effectively write the marketing copy for you.
