Finally got over my fear and launched my website (Taskelio)!

Hey fellow indie hackers!

Not that long ago, I was a student struggling to gain experience and, much like the rest of us, I encountered the dreaded experience dilemma. You know, the one where you need experience to get a job, but you can’t really gain experience without a job, even though you need exp… You get it 🥲

That’s why I created Taskelio (www.taskelio.com)—to give younger workers a chance to grow! It’s a freelancer marketplace (think Fiverr, UpWork, etc.), but every freelancer is under 26 years old and/or in school!

The truth is though, I've been sitting on the basically finished version of the website for months now. Sure, there are a ton of changes I still want to make, but none of them have been stopping me from launching.

The only thing stopping me, was my fear that it would fail. I'm sure a lot of you can relate even though you, like me, probably know that failure isn't really a bad thing—it's just an opportunity to grow. Despite that, I spent the last several months just ruminating and sitting with my discomfort, which sucked.

So that's why I launched! I'm officially part of the "just fkn ship it" camp because it's better than wasting time and mental bandwidth contemplating the "what ifs". Easier said than done, definitely, but I think this is a solid step in the right direction. There's 100% still room for growth, a lot of it, but no one starts off with the perfect business. Regardless of what happens, it's been worth it!

Alright, let's talk more about Taskelio!

For buyers:

Seems weird right? Why would you want to hire someone so early in their career?

🚀 They’re up-to-date with the newest skills and technologies, and they’re often pioneering them

💵 They generally charge less

🛠 You’ll help the next generation, aka your soon-to-be full-time employees and co-workers, gain experience

🤝 Remember when you needed experience and were wishing someone would go out on a limb for you because you knew that you had something to offer?

For freelancers:

If you’re you’re a younger person looking for experience, then we’re here to help you do that in an environment where you don’t have to compete against seasoned experts. Oh, and you’ll also gain autonomy, client skills, flexible work, connections, and cash. Need I go on? It’s that simple.

So here’s the ask:

If you want to hire freelancers (ever) or become a freelancer, sign up today!

If you don’t fall into either of those camps or our mission doesn’t speak to you (no hard feelings, we get it!), can you just mention us next time someone in your circle is thinking of hiring/becoming a freelancer?

If we can have any say in it, then I think we owe it to the younger generations to help them overcome the issues we faced.

Don’t get me wrong; this isn’t a hand out. It’s an opportunity to create a win-win situation so that we can all grow together 🚀

Thanks everyone!
