It's my MVP/public beta at https://classalog.org.
You can find and connect with individuals and businesses giving classes in your city. Started only with San Francisco. 58 classes added so far.
As a potential student (of a yoga class, dance class for your wedding, tennis class, etc.), what would you like to see or modify? Any other thoughts to share?
Good initiative. I can see you’re aggregating more options and more inclusive then ClassPass. I’m curious what makes you better?
Yes, there are quite a few out there: classpass, takelessons, coursehorse, verlocal. They all feature only their "partner classes", and ask them to change their processes and adopt their payment systems, etc.
What makes Classalog better is exactly what you describe: it is more inclusive/universal. Ultimately, the goal is to list all existing classes, even non-paying customers. Like Google that has every website, or Yelp has every restaurants, Classalog will have every classes. There is lots of value for the user in being exhaustive.
Big task ahead. wdyt?
Like the idea of inclusion :)
Circle back to your second statement. When you included every classes, it feels like an alternative of Eventbrite. How do you see the challenge coming?
Eventbrite is helping organize one-time events. While they are an alternative for some kind of one-time class, I don't see them as a direct competitor.
As a user, I never thought about going to Eventbrite for finding my guitar instructor, kitesurf instructor, driving instructor, etc. Classalog also helps build the on-going relationship beyond the one-time interactions. Instructors will also have the tools (in the future) to engage with their students, e.g. newsletter, announcement, etc.
Does that make sense?
