Finding where potential customers hang out?

Hey IH πŸ‘‹

We've been working on a Slack app (http://aspenmicro.com/agendas/) and, while it seems like every company and every person uses Slack, it's tough to figure out where they congregate online since Slack has such diverse customers itself. Does anyone have any tips on how to find out where potential customers hang out so you can better understand their problems and how to offer solutions to them? Do you make archetypes (e.g. software developers, accountants, retail workers) and then seek out where those archetypes would be online? Do you use advertising to narrow things down? Do you cold-call/cold-email anyone who could be a customer? Thanks for any tips πŸ™

I'd suggest getting involved in industry focused slack groups. People participating in slack communities probably also use slack at work. Here's a big list of open workspaces https://www.startups.com/library/expert-advice/full-list-slack-communities
