I have finally finished up my first released of Chrome extension (viable product).
What should I do now, what is the next step? I have already got some feedback from my close colleague and I will work on those improvements over the next 2 weeks, but what other steps should I take? How can I find more testers?
When should I advertise the product?
Oh and last but not least. Make Waver works without signup. Signup makes people resign, especially after first hard step which is installation.
Saves data locally in the memory of browser if someone don't want to signup.
This is stil better user than the one that removes your extension immediately after installation.
I'm going to offer 10 URLs block if the user doesn't signup. What do you think about that?
I think for now you should give everything for free. As I said previously, getting users for browser extension is harder than for normal SaaS. They have to risk by installing something that has no users - so you should reward it to them. It's hard to give particular numbers, but I would promise to have it free forever for each of first 100 users. Then perhaps , perhaps if users starts installing it themselves without you convincing them to, try monetizing.
Alright, will do that. I will make it free for all users, but if they want features such as sync data, text notification to remind the blocker time is up, then they have to sign up for an account. Is that ok to do?
Hi Farhad
I may tell from my personal experience that finding users to Chrome Extension is extremely hard. Any software that exists inside of any kind of app store - Chrome Store, Google Play, Apple App Store - has to struggle with:
Normally when you launch SaaS your users that are just about signing up don't know that only 5 other people around the globe use your app. Here they see counter which shows 0 or 10 or 50 and they think that perhaps they should not install it, because basically it's new and they are afraid.
Where we come to second point. Installation. That makes marketing even harder. It's not only about signup which is giving email and setting password. Right now you have to install something into your browser. People are not really prone to do that also because they are lazy.
What I can recommend to you is:
@mfarajewicz Thank you so much for this great advice, I have noted and will work on making a better strategic plan.
Very cool, I like the clean layout. Does it block the sites on all browsers or just chrome?
Here is one other thought - Right now your website highlights four features of the app, but I think some of them are more interesting to you as a developer than as someone who might buy the product.
For example, consider swapping in a statement about your state of the art security and privacy measures. People with compulsive habits online want to know that they can trust your software. They aren't necessarily going to understand what a "clean code template" is.
This same approach to customer-first mentality will help with advertising, to ensure that your talking points focus on the customer problems you solve. :)
Thank you so much, as of now it blocks any sites you added through chrome. After all the bugs are resolved i will be creating a safari version.
I like your advice i will make those changes to the website. I also like customer approach ro customer-first mentality. Thank you again :)
You're welcome Farhad :)
