It's that time of the year when everyone hunts for the best deals on their favourite products.
Have you decided what offer you will be running?
I am still confused so I thought of speaking with my fellow Indie Hackers to see if you can help me decide.
Also, You can Flex your deal in the comments below. Someone may get inspired by your deal. Do mention your website too (who doesn't like free traffic).
My Confusion:
I have added a Poll for draftss.com. Your suggestions will mean a lot.
I'm surprised to see all the votes in favor of varieties of discounts. A lot of marketers speak very vociferously against discounts. There's even a chapter in The 22 Immutable Laws of Marketing about this. "You're devaluing your product and training people that the full price is overpriced."
For an extreme version, I use a service that E-mails me about discounts or free trials or stuff every week or two. So everyone knows to never pay their full price. I don't understand how they're profitable, or if they're profitable.
I'm in favor of giving some kind of special bonus instead. So I guess that "Free Design" would be an example. Or something new like having one of your Expert Drafters (TM) review their work.
This is hands down my favourite comment. Thanks a ton.
However, I have noticed that every time I remove the discount, new signups reduce dramatically & all of my competitors always provide some discount so to be competitive I run behind the discount myself.
Do you have any suggestions how can I smoothly move away from the discounts & continue to grow?
People are used to seeing the discounts, and now you're taking that away. So of course you'll see signups go down. But it's partly temporary.
Plus there's also a genuine demand curve of fewer people buying when the price is higher. Although it's not as simple as the econ 101 story (which is really just for commodities), as people treat the price as signal about its underlying value, plus it's known that paying more just makes people value it more. Of course, if you're too similar to your competitors, then the econ 101 commodity story starts to apply, but that's generally a very bad place to be.
I recommend reading the $100 Million Offer. Incredible book. It's absolutely unbeatable in the amount of value per page it offers.
Thanks a lot, @jkoppel. I will read this book for sure. It was a great chat.
Free trial definitely
Noted. But what if, You don't get 50% OFF after the Free trial? Would you still choose a Free Trial over 50% OFF for let's say first 3 months?
Hey Sid, I'll personnaly shoot for the free trial too !
On my end, I'm running a special lifetime deal for Kaptr.me.
With Kaptr.me, you can take a snapshot of any app or website, that stays up to date automatically.
It's the easiest way of building dashboards, without any technical integrations.
Hope you'll like it :)
That is some crazy technology. I've heard of this concept for the first time. Will check it out. Thanks
Thanks so much for the support ! We've launched last week so that's pretty new :)
Good luck on your journey. Do let me know if I can be of any help.
I would say first option!
Option 2
