Always been interested in Free Trials, what SaaS companies define as a free trial. What do you think?
You never know if you will like the app by just looking at a marketing website even if you've read it 20x, it's usually a feature issue too, the app is what you want, but does it do a certain thing.
The problem is, some "Try it for FREE" call to actions link to a trialed gate kept by a credit card, which then gets automatically charged after the trial period.
Personally I have no issue with this, especially if there is Apple Pay as it's so easy, but when I have to go and find my wallet and enter 16 digits + expiry + CSV just to try a $5 per month product, it gets a little long in the tooth.
At Setary.com we’ve turned off our marketing call to actions for the above format to use a new Demo setup that creates a sandbox environment with an easy call to action to start a free trial if the demo satisfies (it will), they can then use their own data instead of demo data.
Looking forward to sign-up results as I would expect “trial churn” to be a lot less as they’ve already pre-demo’d. But maybe less sign-ups due to using demo data?
Would you click our demo [https://setary.com/go/demo] link if you didn't need to put in credit card information?
