Freemium model vs subscription, what do you recommend?

We just launched our app called Budgeat three weeks ago and have had very little conversions to paid subscriptions, it is early on but wanted to get some insight from other members of the community to see which direction they started with and what is recommended. We are discussing changing to a freemium model but uncertain of the revenue model, any help will truly be appreciated.
