From Idea to Live in < 24h: A simple social Link Sharing Tool

Hey all,

Since starting to learn to code last year, today I've used my new skills for the first time to build and ship a (small) product in under 24 hours. Over the last days, my friends and I were all sharing lots of links and infos about the Coronavirus situation. Also before this topic I always had a few very active Telegram and Whatsapp groups where friends and I would be sharing articles, videos, etc. and discuss them.

However, I always found it hard to keep an overview of the links posted, avoid duplicate posts and find the ones I found interesting later on.

Being sort-of locked in right now during the Corona outbreak, I used yesterday afternoon to quickly hack together a very simple social link sharing tool. Today I "launched" it: https://buqqet.co

Right now, the feature set is super small, but I wanted to get something up and running fast and then iterate on feedback.

If people find this useful, I'll continue working on this and build out more features.

I know it's nothing special, but wanted to share with the IH community anyway, as so far I've been mostly only a passive reader ;)

I would appreciate any feedback!

Nice! Just messed with it for a second.

I think you are competing with browser bookmarks, if you are trying to improve bookmarks, you need to add something new.

But in 24 hours?, excellent., thanks for sharing.

Thank you for the feedback. Yes, it was a quick and dirty build, but good to get some "shipping" practice in ;) Now will see where I can take this with more features.

Thanks for the feedback - tagging/categorizing will definitely be part of the roadmap!

Used https://www.npmjs.com/package/link-preview-js on the server side (Firebase Cloud Function)
