From Idea to Reality with User Feedbacks

I wanted to share my journey with Synth Resume and how I finally cracked the code on properly validating my ideas with potential users before fully diving into development. In the past, I made the mistake of building products in a vacuum—guided solely by my assumptions. As you might guess, those products didn’t quite take off due to some pretty glaring oversights.

This time around, I decided to switch things up by involving potential users early in the process. Here’s how it played out:

Talking to Users: Instead of assuming I knew what job seekers needed, I started by having conversations with them. I reached out to people I thought might benefit from a tool like synthresume.com and asked open-ended questions about their job search struggles and what they wished existed to help them.

Continuous Testing: As I began developing Synth Resume, I didn’t just keep people updated; I actively involved them. I shared prototypes and new features, gathering feedback at each stage. This continuous testing helped refine the product and ensured it truly addressed user pain points.

Pivoting Based on Feedback: There were instances where the feedback led to significant changes in direction. It was an exercise in humility, letting go of ideas I thought were great because the users showed me otherwise.

The result is a tool that genuinely helps streamline the job application process by creating tailored CVs and tracking applications effectively. This approach not only saved me from future frustrations but also set a solid foundation for building something people actually want to use.

I'm curious to hear about your experiences with idea validation and user testing. How have you ensured your products resonate with your target audience? Any strategies that worked particularly well for you? Looking forward to learning from this community!

    Hi Deniz,
Very interesting product. The demo is neat! 👏

I'm following the same discovery process - I'm in the first phase of discussing with users about a concept.

I notice you talk a lot about capturing and using their feedback. I assume during this first phase, you were having conversations with them to gather feedback.

After that, were you asking them to fill out a form or sent you an email? Or were you still having conversations? Did you encounter any trouble with analyzing their feedback or any bias when digging into them?

Thanks a lot for your insights! :)

Nope, all the time we have our conversations. Anlayzing feedbacks was the hardest part because some of them gave clear feedbacks and ideas but some part no. So I did a list with understandable ones.

Thanks for the reply. Yeah, that's the hardest part, detect the right signals and properly act on them.

Really want to talk with users and get feedbacks. But I'm quite lost now as posting on communities does not get me any replies. I would love to have some tips and tricks from you, mate.
