Generating app signups with original content on Instagram

Hi IH!

Few months ago, we finished building out our prototype app that reads you the top Technology news stories. For a while, we couldn't find any users that would sign up. Instead of sitting and waiting, we decided to be proactive and bring value to our prospective users.

So we started an Instagram account where we post the day's top story in Technology every day @ 9 AM. Since our target market consists of folks with 9 to 5 jobs, they can read the news while on their commute.

We've published 41 posts to date and got 5 sign-ups. Not bad. But could be better.

We will continue to deliver quality content via Instagram as part of the buyer's discovery phase. Hopefully, this will lead to more sign-ups and app downloads when we launch.

Is there anything we should try or do differently?

Thanks!

Hey sssaini, had a quick look. Don't know how much extra effort this would be but, I think it would be cool to hear the first paragraph of the article through your Instagram post. So instead of an image, it would be an audio snippet + image.

Also, FYI, I find it unfortunate that I have to sign up to access the features of Newseon. That extra step probably makes people lose interest.

Hey @RedLotus, thank you for taking a look.

That is honestly a great idea, one that we had not thought of before. Sharing essentially a video with the image + audio would not only be great for engagement but would accurately showcase our value prop.

Yes, that's a good point. We're looking to launch on PH next month with App available to download.
