Geotagging made simple—upload, pick a spot

Hey Indie Hackers! 👋

I just launched a simple tool: Geotag Photos Online.

It lets you add or edit GPS location data (geotags) to your photos directly in the browser. No downloads, no signup, just upload → pick a location on the map → save.

Why I built it

I noticed photographers, travelers, and local business owners often need geotagged photos—for SEO, organization, or mapping—but most solutions are clunky, paid, or require software installs. So I wanted to create a fast, free, and lightweight alternative as part of my BasicUtils project.

Key features

  • Upload an image and embed GPS coordinates into the EXIF metadata

  • Pick a location on an interactive map or enter exact coordinates

  • 100% free, instant, and browser-based

  • Part of the wider BasicUtils suite of productivity tools

Who it’s for

  • 📸 Photographers who want their shots to “live on the map”

  • 🌍 Travelers & bloggers organizing trips visually

  • 🏪 Local business owners improving SEO with geotagged images

  • 🧑‍💻 Anyone curious about EXIF data

Would love to get your feedback, ideas, or feature requests 🙌

Great, simple, straight to the point.

A feature that could be fun..."suggested location". You can pass the image the ai that guesses the approximate location, like an ai geo-guesser. For scenery and travel photos could bring up approximate locations maybe.

Good idea! An AI-powered location suggestion feature would fit perfectly. I’ll keep it in mind as I keep improving the tool
