Google Ads customer service is garbage

I set up a Google ads account about 9 months ago and played around with it for a few minutes, not intending to go live with a campaign yet. I logged off, and haven't touched it since.

Then out of the blue I noticed I was getting some traffic from Google Ads last week, which seemed weird.

Turns out that Google had started running my campaign after nine months because I updated my credit card, and never sent me a notification. They automatically generated shitty, useless headlines and text, producing extremely low-quality ads.

I just spent an hour with them on the phone, and they will absolutely not budge an inch on a refund. So Google gets $155 from me, and I get some incredibly low-quality traffic that resulted in zero conversions.

Un-fucking-believable.

That doesn't sound legit. Is there a government complaints department you could go through to complain and get the money back?

It's just little enough that I'm not sure it's worth any more time spent honestly. I might pursue it out of principle though. It's pretty ridiculous.

I'm sure they have an algorithm for that. :)

They will rely on the assumption that you won't pursue it... because it's a low amount of money... and that they are Google.
