Gumroad for Software
Hey,
I'm launching a Laravel package on Gumroad called LaraNx - SEO and Theme Management for Laravel.
As a lean method to get this launched I chose Gumroad as the paywall. So far I really like it. I have a website as my landing page and I'm going to send users to Gumroad for payment and downloading the package.
I just started today so I'll keep posting on how it's going. I'm currently using the software licensing and coupons features.
Does anyone have questions or experiences they could share?
Are you just making people download the zip of the package? I've been looking at this lately for a Laravel package I was making.
I highly recommend you check out Satis to let people use composer to keep the package up to date.

Yes, I looked in to Satis and there are some great tutorials available. For the initial release I'm really fighting myself on overbuilding and focusing more on marketing. I do agree a composer solution will be necessary.

Good stuff! I agree, went down that rabbit hole and got Satis working. The whole licensing check thought was a bit of a pain so I’ve opted to making the package open source and making a side project to offer premium articles/screencasts to sponsors. Wrote a bit about it yesterday.
Still working on the package, it’s subscription/SaaS based though :)
