Hard work is not enough to be successful

Hi makers,

I've seen some videos on Youtube about luck and the fact that it plays a role in success.

Lucky hard workers will eventually defeat the non-lucky hard workers, it's a fact.

There are many successful indie hackers and entrepreneurs here who wrote their stories but most of them if not all them haven't mentioned luck at all.

Sometimes, hard work and doing the right things are not enough.

The whole point of this is: is there a way to get more luck?

I've heard a few people say that you can increase chances by "getting in the way of luck". This basically means putting yourself out there for opportunities in which you could get lucky. For example, if you write a blog post, you have more chance of going viral than someone who did not write one.

It doesn't necessarily have to be hard work either. Being able to identify where to focus your efforts is a powerful skill and that alone can help you "get more luck".

That's right. An example is people who have been able to fulfil their dreams by going viral on social media. I've seen instances where a single retweet by an influencer turned an artist's career around. Imagine if that artist never created the content in the fist place. How would it have gone viral? So hard work brings luck.

    Simply put -

Luck comes only when you put in the hard work.

I have noticed that the more harder I work, the more I am getting lucky at things.

That's what bugs me the most. I was a victim of thinking that luck would help me progress too. However, at one point, I realized how hard entrepreneurship journey is and why I can never be dependent on luck.

Luck is vague and it also be used to do blame-game. But it's of no use anyways. So rather work hard, do things that need to be done and you'll see that the universe starts aligning things according to what you want.

Phew! That was a short but good rant @hamza__nouali I feel haha!

Probably said in some way or another but... Luck is just doing the right thing over and over again so that fortune visits you. It happens more when you do the right thing 1,000 times than 10 times. I think there's a whole story about this in "The Richest Man in Babylon." Highly recommend reading it if you haven't already. One of the best books I've ever read and it'll be the best $5 you ever spend. https://amzn.to/3bM9hGG
