Have you successfully changed a domain without impacting SEO / search results?

I'm looking at changing a domain name over for a product of mine, however it currently ranks quite well and a lot of the sales come from organic traffic, so I'm a little bit worried about making that change.

I was wondering if anyone here has successfully made a change, and if so, how'd you go about it?

What I'm thinking so far is to use a 301 redirect and notify Google Search Console of the change, but I'm not sure if anything else is required.

Would appreciate any insight!
