I've been working on something I think you'll find interesting, especially if you care about privacy and security.
What is Beam?
Beam is a web app that lets you transfer files between devices using QR codes -completely offline, with no servers involved, and leaving absolutely no trace.
How it works:
1. Open the app on both nearby devices
2. Select your file on the sender device
3. Scan the QR codes that appear with the receiver device
4. File transfers directly between devices via QR codes
Why I built this:
π΅οΈ Complete Privacy: No data touches any server, ever
π Works Offline: No internet connection required
π» No Trace: Nothing stored, logged, or tracked anywhere
π Resumable: Can resume interrupted transfers
π± Cross-Platform: Works on any device with a camera and browser
Perfect for:
Sharing sensitive documents
Transferring files in areas with no WiFi
Situations where you can't use USB, email, or cloud storage
When you need guaranteed privacy
The app uses a custom protocol I designed specifically for QR code transfers, with chunking for large files

Would love to hear your thoughts and feedback!
Tech stack: Next.js, TypeScript, QR codes
Hi Andy - this would be great as mentioned for sharing highly sensitive information. I see the value here/
