HelpKit, my Notion Help Center SaaS, reached $2000 MRR. Here are five short lessons πŸ“š

Today marks the second big milestone for me as an Indiehacker.

HelpKit, my 100% bootstrapped SaaS, reached $2000 in MRR! πŸŽ‰

Over 90+ customers are now using HelpKit and Notion to serve their knowledge bases πŸ’ͺ That's over 3000 help articles 🀯

β†’ It took around 5 months to reach $1000 MRR
β†’ It took 1.5 months to reach $2000 MRR

To be completely honest with you, I did not expect this kind of fast growth but I am thoroughly enjoying it!

Here are five quick lessons I have learned.

🧠 Lesson 1: Full focus

One of the biggest actions for HelpKit's success was forcing myself not to work on my other products. It was SO hard to resist but this way, I couldn't procrastinate and made sure to make the product as perfect as I could. Consistency > Motivation

🏷 Lesson 2: Don't overthink your pricing

In the beginning, you need to make an educated guess about your pricing. There's no way you will know what works and what doesn't. Pick a price and go. Don't overthink. With time you'll find the right value metrics your customers value.

πŸ™‡β€β™‚οΈ Lesson 3: Stop worrying about eventualities

There will be things in your product that will make you feel it's not worth the price or it doesn't meet your user's requirements. Unless a user addresses it, stop worrying. Countless doubts I had simply never turned into reality.

πŸ™‹β€β™€οΈ Lesson 4: Be a human

Don't hide behind the corporate "we". One powerful advantage we @IndieHackers have is that we can build closer, more personal connections with our customers. Hop on a call and tell them your story. They might become your ambassadors.

πŸ§–β€β™‚οΈ Lesson 5: Take your time

If you don't feel like working on your project, take a break. Go to the gym, play with your cats, go surfing. Doesn't matter if you need one day or one week. It can be so easy to lose yourself in work. This is not a sprint. It's a marathon.

That's it for now! If you have any questions, more than happy to answer here! :)

Hey, this sounds like a great idea!! Can imagine this to be wildly successful. Good luck!

Maybe, think about having a per-user pricing in the future. In general, your product feels, it delivers waaaaaayyyyy more value than 15$ per site.
Having a per-user per month basis "might" give you more scalability.
(I know that one of your learnings in the post is to not overthink pricing, so my comment might sound a little off-place, haha :-D )

Hey :) No this is great. I always welcome feedback! Yes, I have some pricing plans already in the back of my head now that I know exactly what customers value. Currently creating the plans and UI for it which takes quite sooooome time.
