How can I increase conversion?

I've been working on ExtensionKit for some time now and over 90% of traffic that hits the landing page comes organically through Google, however my conversion still seems extremely low (~1%, give or take).

I was wondering if anyone had any ideas based on the landing page that could potentially boost conversion? One recent change I made was the ability to see all templates prior to purchase and that has definitely increased conversion, however I'm hoping to find additional ideas.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Danny Postmaa mentioned that if your conversion rate is above 1%, you don't need to do CRO, you need more marketing. 1% for this kind of thing seems perfectly reasonable.

For a sweet CRO course check out cxl.com. It's expensive yearly membership but when I checked out they had a $1 plan for 1 week's access. I cleared my schedule and went and took a 50 hour course. It was awesome. I should buy the yearly membership, but haven't gone back to CRO yet. Needed to do SEO (personally) first. But sometime this year I'll go back and buy the yearly plan.

One piece of advice I just got for my own site was to make sure that the individual pages have over 500 words.
For example on this page Basic New Tab you have 126. So beef up those pages so they rank better for more long tail keywords and purchase intent key words.

That's my problem right now I have a ton of video descriptions that are very very short, and even my content directory pages don't have 500 words. so I'm adding words to those. Then I also have a big difficulty in figuring out "purchase intent" of the many thousands of long tail keywords for "Google Sheets" You might not have as much of a problem as me in that regard.

But I think if you get more "purchase intent" traffic from long tail keywords, across all your pages, then your SEO traffic would improve it's conversion rate on it's own.

Also something very basic might be to get people to keep looking at different pages, internal linking from one template to another could be added. That way your SEO would improve but also you would be sure that a user can find the exact template they are looking for. Better match means higher purchase rate, right?

Just a few thoughts as I am going through a similar experience at the moment. Trying to balance conversions vs traffic. Making sure that an increase of traffic would also get a higher or similar conversion rate can be tough. There's so many ways to artificially inflate the traffic and end up with no sales, and less conversions. (cheap traffic via foreign FB ads) And getting no good backlinks from directories just wastes everyone's time, right? Fingers crossed this stuff works!

This is an amazing writeup and extremely helpful, thank you! I think I kind of figured increasing marketing was what was needed but I was hoping I could push that off for a bit and increase conversion instead haha.

I really like the idea of adding more content to individual template pages since it seems like a good space to be able to leverage keywords a lot more. I also like the idea of cross-linking between templates. I think I'm going to spend some more time on individual template pages rather than the landing page itself.

Thanks again for all that feedback!

        I saw this app: https://linkwhisper.com/
        but it's a wordpress plugin.
I'd love something like this for Ghost (where I write blog posts) or something for my site. Maybe I'll tool something up that adds more internal links. but I feel like I have "enough" with formulas and tags and categories. but it's just so slow to see the results.

Please keep me updated on if that helps.

I'm doing the same thing on my site and would love to actually see that this works. This SEO stuff takes so very long to see results it's a bit ridiculous.

I use Gatsby for most of my stuff so that also got me searching for something similar, I imagine it's something that's been solved to some degree so I'm hoping it'll be more so just repurposing an existing plugin.

I'll for sure keep you updated on any progress. I'd also love to hear if you find something is a clear winner with what you're testing out as well.

          Thanks again

There are many ways to increase conversion. Some of them are:

    1. Remove unnecessary form fields and only ask for essential information. You shouldn’t overthink and offer a simple process.
    2. Add testimonials and reviews to showcase social proof and credibility.
    3. Track how people interact with your site using tools like heatmaps, session recordings, and surveys. You should understand how your application looks from the users perspective. Share your app with your friends or family to get comprehensive feedback.
    4. Use A/B testing or multivariate testing to choose the best variant of design or offer sentence.

Create some youtube videos to market your SaaS.

Use some storytelling and watch a couple of videos from „film booth“ on youtube.

Be active on some subreddits. r/webdev has a showoff day every Saturday.

Give out a couple of subscriptions to developers who have created extensions and made videos online on youtube, if they like it they make market you. Maybe create affiliation links for them, give them a cut for each sale through them?

I would love to be update on the progress. Cheers!

Thanks for those suggestions, I haven't thought of tackling it from that angle but love the value some of them could provide. Also really like the idea of some sort of affiliate system.

    • your headings should communicate the success the business will have after using your product. E.g. 'Functional Example Extensions' is not great. Better: 'Launch your Extension today and get your first users'
    • the images need to show how your product helps the user
    • somehow I don't 'trust' the website. Can you add more testimonals, maybe include the blog section on the landing page. maybe share more about yourself and say 'I have published 20 extensions myself and today I am sharing with you my starterkit that is currently helping 1M users every day'

    Improve website load time
Optimize your landing page with LSI keywords
    Use clear call-to-action (CTA) buttons
Ensure message match between ad and landing page
    Simplify your landing page

Agree on this. I also checked the website and it's passing all Core Web Vitals. Your images are huge though and can possibly be scaled down and changed to webp.

Congratulations on getting a lot of organic traffic to your landing page! Here are some suggestions to potentially boost your conversion rate:

    • Add social proof such as customer testimonials or logos of companies that have used ExtensionKit.
    • Consider adding more visuals such as screenshots or videos to showcase the product and its features.
    • Highlight the benefits of using ExtensionKit and how it can solve a specific problem or pain point for your target audience.
    • Use persuasive language and clear call-to-actions throughout the landing page.
    • Consider A/B testing different versions of your landing page to see which one performs better and make further adjustments based on the results.
Good luck with improving your conversion rate!

To increase conversion, you can try the following strategies:

Optimize your website: Ensure your website is user-friendly and easy to navigate. Additionally, make sure your website is designed for quick loading and optimized for mobile devices.

Leverage social proof: Use customer testimonials, case studies, ratings, and reviews to build trust with your potential customers. This social proof is a powerful motivator for driving conversions.

A/B testing: Use A/B testing to determine what changes lead to conversions. Test changes to different elements on your website, such as headlines, calls-to-action, images, and forms, and use the winning variant to optimize for conversion.

Offer free trials: Offer free trials or demos of your product, so users can try it out before they buy. This builds trust and helps potential customers feel more comfortable taking the next step.

Optimize your call-to-action: Use a persuasive and clear call-to-action (CTA) that tells your visitors what you want them to do next. Use action words that create a sense of urgency and ensure that your CTA is prominently displayed.

Personalization: Personalize your messaging and offers to resonate with your target audience, making it more likely they will convert.

Targeted advertising: Use targeted advertising to reach your audience on social media and other platforms. Optimize your ad copy and landing pages to increase the relevancy of your ads to the audience.

Improve website content: Your website should be clear, concise, and informative. A useful and relevant website can help in building trust with potential customers.

Offer a guarantee: Provide a guarantee on your product or service to remove any risk for the customer. This can help ease any doubts and make it more likely for them to convert.

Optimize your checkout process: Ensure your checkout process is quick and easy, and only requires essential information. Make sure the process is secure and clear. Ensure you remove any distractions or potential roadblocks, as this will make it easier for the customer to convert.
