Chasing press is close to useless and it's a typical mistake new founders make. I worked with a few startups that ended up on TechCrunch. You'd be surprised to know how little traffic and conversions they got.
I often see that companies within my network do press release on TC/ Forbes/ WallStreetJournal after a successful fund-raising. I don't have much data, but only from stories of YC founders, e.g. Weebly and Cocademy, who show their graphs. They looks similar with a spike and a little traffic then.

Was looking into Niche blogs.
We have never get a "Press Coverage", all though some small magazines shared us, or wrote about us.
So I don't have a subsequent knowledge. But I always found these resources from YC very useful.

There's a book I thoroughly enjoyed that's not about PR but has everything to do with PR: Blueprint for revolution, by Srdja Popovic

Nope. Not in the conventional way. But this is mostly because I haven’t done a good job at being consistent w/ PR. Among other tasks a founder has to work on.

There are lists all over IH that document where you can promote or list a new app or SaaS or whatever you are building. If you search around and start bookmarking them you can collect a ton of them. It quickly goes from not having enough places, to tons of places and then you have to consider the time involved in getting listed on all of them..
....if only there was some kind of "independent hacker" who could productize listing and posting of launches and offer it as a pay service for a few hundred dollars....;-) Where would they even go to test for product market fit?? It's a mystery....
But also I have used a lot of launch platforms.
I'm talking of Actual press Like TC or other tech Publications
Okay then a would hunt down the press release crowd like PR Newswire and others. everyone says "that's dead" but I don't think so and you have to do the things others don't to hope for a breakthrough to real press.

For my press coverage I went on any and all podcasts I could for years. I Wrote into any written interview sites. IH, Starter Story, etc.
