How did You Repeat Success?

In building companies we try so many things. Some work. Some don't.

What is an example of something you did, that was successful and now you repeat it?

I successfully built a decent following (15k) on a twitter account by accident over a couple of years (golangnews). I'm hoping to repeat this success with future accounts, but after further testing on a few minor ones have concluded that you need two things to grow large on these social networks:

    • Content that people really want
    • Frequent quality posts

Having the account fed from an aggregator a bit like HN was the success, as it provides both good content and frequent content, far more than I could produce myself.

Just posting blog posts over and over doesn't cut it.

Very nice site. Does the twitter account drive more revenue for you?

That particular project is just a hobby at present, I don't try to make money from it. I started it because I wanted a link aggregator for go and am not a big fan of reddit.

I could probably make money from job ads at some point on it though - I'd like to look at driving more engagement on the forum and an email list first.
