Hi,
As someone who is willing to go indie. How do you go on building your own audience (via twitter/linkedin) ?
I see this as one of the most crucial factors for the inital push of the product as you put out a great word just by posting on your own network.
How do you go on building a relevant following/audience ?
I started my indie journey recently and I've been posting much more often on Twitter. Since I have less than 200 followers it sort of feels like I'm tweeting to myself. However, I believe with consistency building an audience will happen over time.
Makes sense !
I think blogging as a developer might also bring relevant community.
Trying to establish yourself on Twitter or LinkedIn is pretty pointless. Established developers etc are already ahead of you by several years. As @8bit mentioned Indie Hackers is a great way to achieve a better return. As the old saying goes, "it's better to be a big fish in a small pond, than a small fish in a big pond."
it's not pointless tho. it does work. just takes time.
Congrats on starting your journey.
You're right!
Building an audience is crucial. It's more and more the only thing that matters really. :)
The key I think is not just creating great content but promoting the hell out of it.
Find out where your audience hangs out already. Which subreddits? Which groups on FB, Slack? Which platforms?
Become a part of those communities and share your content there.
Do it in a value-first, non-spammy way.
I'd say use your time this way: 30% content production, 70% promotion.
honestly, you can start here on IH! this is a good place to grow an audience, build relationships, and share your journey! i'd add other social platforms as you have need and time.
