How do you create an exceptional student experience?

What are some of your best practices, top tips, or hard-won lessons for creating a stellar student experience?

I'll start, here are 3 of mine:

1. Learn alone, practice together: If I'm teaching a workshop on Customer Experience, I'll ask everyone to watch videos/read essays/etc in preparation for the session. That way, in the live learning session, we can focus on answering questions and practicing with real world examples.

2. Personalize wherever possible: Whenever a new student joins my course, I send them a short survey to learn about their industry and key challenges. Then, before the live learning session, I can research relevant examples and brainstorm on solutions to their challenges. Though the recorded sessions are one-size-fits-all, I try to seize every opportunity (from email content to live learning sessions) to personalize the course.

3. Create community: I'm a strong believer that only ~10% of learning happens through formal instruction. 70% happens through hands on experience, but there's a critical 20% of learning that happens from peer-to-peer learning. Whenever possible, I try to connect students with each other and other alumni. This not only makes it "real" for students, but builds positive momentum and energy.
