How do you launch your product on reddit and quora?

Hey guys! Almost everywhere you can read that launching your product on reddit and quora can be a huge benefit. While this might be true is it really worth to put that much effort in building a credible profile in that niche first so that you can actually "promote" your product?

I have a niche list/database website which helps people finding very specific photographic filters for their cameras. There are a lot of questions on quora regarding this topic and none of the answers really provide that much value. So I started to answer the questions very thoroughly and just linked to my site where it was needed and provided real value. Unfortunately my account got banned because of "spam".

I understand that contributing for the community is really important but if you have a website which is essentially free for the user and it provides a great benefit for the user I do not understand why people on reddit or quora would hate it/ban it. In this case I actually build this just for the community. I am too afraid that this will happen on reddit too so I am trying to build up some credibility first.

However, if I do this for every niche I am launching a new product in this would take months/years... Someone wrote that you should at least engage 1 month in a subreddit before you even think about posting there something from you...

What is you opinion on this and how do you approach this topic?
