Hi,
I am building in public, at least trying. But I realised taking your time and post about your progress is quite time-consuming and painful. And I don't find the motivation to post on Twitter etc.
How do you motivate yourself for posting about your progress/data/results? What kind of routine and tools you are taking advantage of?
hey Emre, what you're feeling right now is completely normal to a lot of creators in the beginning. You're finding it really hard because you don't get to see the results right away. And we humans tend to focus on instant satisfaction.
So the first thing I'd say to you is: what's your goal from posting your progress/data/results? Do you understand your goal?

The flow I think about it is:
If you reverse engineer it like this, you'll find out the meaning of posting. And each post you write is intentional. You're not just writing a daily journal (which is what a lot of people think BuildInPublic means.....)
Btw, I just decided to dedicate some of my time to help others about BuildInPublic. What are your top questions right now? Would love to help. You can also DM me https://twitter.com/kevon69
I chug 6 beers 🍻 and then I post 😂
J/K, that would probably end up pretty bad.
I find that as I'm building and I feel really proud of something that I've worked on, it's probably time to post a quick update. It's also good not to obsess about how many likes or comments you receive. Obviously more is better; however, don't get discouraged if you don't receive much feedback.
You should ultimately be posting for yourself (as well as to let others know what you're working on). If you treat it more like you're journaling your lessons, you will set yourself up for success.
Just my 2 cents 😉 Best of luck!
What kinds of posts are time-consuming and painful?
Honestly if it is painful for you, maybe building in public is not for you.
Do you use Twitter? When you finish working, just open it and write out 2 sentences of what you did.
I wake up every morning and allocate 10 minutes with a cup of green tea to posting =D. It helps to have other rewards to trick the brain into thinking you enjoy it!
Sounds like a good idea but it's often hard to get even this. And how many different platforms you use for posting? How long are your posts? :)
