How do you segment your customers?

Hi there,

Not sure if segment is the right word but basically I'm trying to find out who my customers are (industry, company size, job title, etc) in order to better qualify leads.

I've seen this done many times through survey forms presented directly after sign up, I wanted something similar but less intrusive so I setup a poll in Hotjar, which I already use so no need to add yet another 3rd party script.

I've faced more than a few hiccups which are now making second guess my choice, and I can't seem to find a good alternative in Google.

I guess a simpler solution is to just email a Google form to my customers and call a day, but first wanted to know what tools are you indie hackers using?

You may have some luck by introducing oauth and pulling some information about people (such as profile information from Facebook or LinkedIn).

This may put off potential users, however.

    Hi Eduardo,

Your question is understandable and its a good thing your working on this, it could give you very interesting insights if done correctly. There will most certainly be some tools around there that would make this easier but in the end it will always be a form with questions.

What I always try to do is implement it in something. Remember that you can't just ask precious time from people with giving them something in return, make them feel valuable or give them something that has value. Maybe if you could tell us some more about the project it is for I could think along of a way of accomplishing this.

While we're at it, would you mind sharing your opinion on this post? I would appreciate it! https://www.indiehackers.com/post/validation-a-wireless-time-machine-backup-saas-3e3555e130
