As a developer I am accustomed to do most things myself. This is fine for fiddling around with more or less serious projects, but working in a dedicated team is an order of magnitude better. Sparing, inspiration, support, socialisation (home office under corona sucked big time!), problem solving and personal bias are all better in a team.
Not to mention if you are two, one can focus development and the other on marketing and avoid context switching. No wonder all venture capitalists strongly prefer to invest in teams, with one part being technical.
But finding the right partner is difficult. Personality has to fit but also skills. So my question, how do I as a tech guy find and vet a potential marketing co-founder?
One of the best ways to vet a potential co-founder is to build something together before making a long-term commitment.
Working through real product decisions, deadlines, and disagreements reveals far more than interviews or casual conversations. From an investor's perspective, shared values, complementary skills, and the ability to navigate uncertainty together are often stronger indicators of success than an impressive résumé.
Not sure if a service like this could maybe help? I know they are mainly working with properties, but they are an expanding Startup so maybe they can help you with this? https://business.checkboard.com/?_ga=2.129822916.935182045.1656594311-1760792353.1655733078&_gl=11wudeft_gaMTc2MDc5MjM1My4xNjU1NzMzMDc4_ga_0S62CB759Z*MTY1NjU5NDMxMC4yLjAuMTY1NjU5NDMxMC4w
Hmm, doesn't seem that relevant?
I honestly don't know if they do this kind of checks. Had a talk with them s few weeks back, popped into my mind when I saw your question.
