How I Built a Privacy-First, Hybrid Workspace for Events and Productivity

The Problem: The Privacy vs. Cloud Dilemma

Most productivity and event management tools face a strict trade-off. You either get a completely local, "privacy-first" app where your data never leaves your device (but you lose cross-platform flexibility), or you get a heavy cloud app where you don't really own your data.

I wanted to break this compromise. Why can't we have a seamless workspace that respects local privacy by default, but scales to the web when we actually need it?

Enter Oria: Local-First Meets Web Sync

With the latest version of Oria, I pivoted the architecture toward a hybrid model.

On Mobile: Oria functions completely offline and locally. Your events, tasks, and workspace data are stored securely on your device. Privacy isn't a feature; it's the default state.
On Web: When you need a boost in productivity or a larger screen to manage your schedule, Oria synchronizes your local data with the web interface securely. You get instantaneous access to your device's data right from your browser without compromising the underlying privacy model.

Community Over Code: Indie hacking taught me that making the app "privacy-first" resonates deeply with modern users who are tired of big tech data harvesting.

What's Next?

I’m currently refining the sync protocols to make them even faster and expanding the event-planning toolset within the workspace.
