How I Built AffiliList: A Clean Directory for Affiliate Marketers

Hey fellow indie hackers! I'm excited to share a side project I've been working on that I believe could be valuable for many in our community, especially those involved in affiliate marketing and SEO.

The Problem

As an affiliate marketer, I constantly found myself frustrated with the process of finding good affiliate programs. The existing directories were often:

  • Cluttered with outdated information
  • Filled with sketchy, unreliable programs
  • Lacking in user-friendly interfaces
  • Missing crucial details about commission structures and terms

I knew there had to be a better way.

The Solution: AffiliList.com

After months of development, I'm proud to introduce AffiliList- a clean, straightforward directory of affiliate programs designed to solve these pain points.

Key Features:

  1. Clean Interface: No unnecessary fluff or ads. Just the information you need.
  2. Verified Programs: We manually review each listing to ensure quality.
  3. Detailed Information: Commission rates, payment terms, and program details all in one place.
  4. Easy Submission: Have an affiliate program? Submit it easily (currently free while we're in beta).

The Journey So Far

Building AffiliList has been an incredible learning experience. Here are some key takeaways:

  1. Market Research is Crucial: I spent days talking to other affiliate marketers to understand their needs and doing research on competitors.
  2. Start Simple: The current version is bare-bones, but it allows for quick iteration based on user feedback.

What's Next?

I'm committed to making AffiliList the go-to resource for affiliate marketers. To do that, I need your help!

Questions for the Community:

  1. What additional features would make AffiliList indispensable for you?
  2. Are there specific niches or types of programs you'd like to see more of?
  3. How do you currently discover new affiliate programs to promote?

Let's Connect!

I'm always looking to connect with fellow indie hackers. Feel free to reach out if you have questions, suggestions, or just want to chat about building in public!
