How I Built My First Website Using WordPress and the Kadence Theme

A few months ago, I decided to stop overthinking and finally build my first website.

Like many beginners, I spent days comparing themes, watching YouTube tutorials, and reading blog posts. At some point, I realized I was learning more about building websites than actually building one.

So I picked WordPress and the Kadence Theme and started.

Why WordPress?
I chose WordPress because it gives complete control over your website.

Huge plugin ecosystem
Great SEO flexibility
Easy to scale
Large community when you get stuck

I knew there would be a learning curve, but I wanted to learn a skill that would still be useful years from now.

Why Kadence?
After trying a few themes, Kadence felt like the right balance between simplicity and performance.

What I liked:
Fast loading
Mobile-friendly
Easy header/footer builder
Works well with Gutenberg
Clean interface without feeling overwhelming

As a beginner, that mattered a lot.

Building the Site
I didn't know everything when I started.

Most of my time wasn't spent writing content—it was spent fixing things.

Some of the challenges I ran into:

Making tables look good on mobile
Optimizing images without losing quality
Learning internal linking
Improving page speed
Understanding basic SEO
Choosing the right plugins instead of installing everything

Every problem forced me to learn something new.

The Biggest Lesson

The biggest lesson wasn't technical.

It was realizing that publishing consistently beats waiting for perfection.

My first pages weren't great.

My first images weren't great.

My first layouts definitely weren't great.

But every week the website became a little better.
