AARRR, well known as Pirates framework is a model used to track key metrics through different stages of a customer’s lifecycle.
AARRR stand for Acquisition, Activation, Retention, Referral, and Revenue
Currently, I implement this framework on hubrank.co, an SEO tool without monthly subscription.
With this framework, I can know better what the bottleneck is when users use hubrank.
Below is the breakdown detail
A - Acquisition
What to Measure: Track how users are finding my product or service.
This could include metrics like website traffic, source of traffic (e.g., social media, search engines, referrals), click-through rates (CTR), and cost per acquisition (CPA).
A - Activation
What to Measure: Measure the first experience users have with our app. Key metrics could be the percentage of users who complete a specific action (e.g., sign-up, onboarding steps). for hubrank, i track one flow from keyword research - get keywords list - generate content as activation
R - Retention
What to Measure: Track how well users engaged over time. Metrics might include churn rate, user activity over time (e.g., daily or monthly active users), and the frequency of usage.
R - Referral
What to Measure: Measure how often and how effectively users are referring others to your product. Metrics include the number of referrals, referral conversion rates, and Net Promoter Score (NPS)
R - Revenue
What to Measure: Track how much money is made from users. Key metrics include Average Revenue Per User (ARPU), customer lifetime value (CLV), and overall revenue growth.
With this framework it give me a clear picture of what phase needs to be optimised.
Last week we had a problem with a low sign up rate, so after clicking the CTA button on the landing page and coming to the login page.
They drop off. Almost 93%. Quite high
Since the problem in the signup process, was identified that the problem in the Acquisition phase was on the Pirates framework.
So we try to implement a one tap sign up o make user easy to sign up and sig in. Make a shorter process.

The result? So far after 3 days. The sign up rate going better.
Currently, we have 14% which is better than before (before we only got a 7% sign up rate)

Next, I will try to optimize the activation and retention rate.
Hope this help
