How much time do you waste every day remembering where you left off in your code?

Lost my job last year with literally zero programming experience. Started learning through Claude, ChatGPT and YouTube, building tiny projects to stay sane. Followed all the big Indie Hackers on Twitter.

But I kept hitting the same wall: every time I'd come back to code after a break, I'd completely forget my mental state. What files? What bug? What's next? Felt like Groundhog Day.

The "aha" moment:

Realized this wasn't just a me problem. Started asking other devs - turns out everyone loses time to this. Studies show the average developer wastes 23 minutes per interruption just getting back into flow.

What I built:

DevContext - a VS Code extension that snapshots your entire workspace. Open files, cursor positions, terminal state, your notes about what you were thinking. One-click save, one-click restore.

Key insight: Sometimes the most valuable products solve the smallest, most frequent annoyances. Context switching might seem trivial, but 23 minutes lost per interruption adds up fast.

Apart from the bugs and Claude creating unlimited syntax errors, AI will definitely impact the world more than we think. If it gets better year upon year, imagine 5 years from now - you think of a product and AI builds it in a day.

The numbers:

  • 2+ active users in 6 months - lol

  • Average user saves 2.1 hours daily

  • $0 spent on marketing (just Reddit/IH posts like this)

  • Zero MRR
