I agree that passwords seem like an outdated experience. Magic Links are the only thing on the list I've built with and I don't think it's a good replacement for passwords.
My criticism to Magic Links is twofold:
Criticisms aside, the reason why passwords are still the absolute majority within authentication methods, is due to "if it's not broken don't fix it" mentality around security. This means that it's up to early adopters to change things up in this space
