How to gain traction with a product

Hi there,

So the other week, I decided I wanted a new job. I'm a Software Engineer living just outside of Amsterdam, have around 5 years experience and good at my job. The immediate thing I noticed was whenever I looked at a job or applied for one, I would never speak to a company directly. In between me and the job the company had advertised, there was always a recruiter. Dealing with one of them isn't too bad, but I found myself speaking to a different recruiter for each job and having the same conversation over and over again. It was infuriating. I got wondering why companies used these guys in the first place, they're really expensive and a lot of them aren't worth their salt. I thought there must be a better way. A reasonably priced job platform that caters specifically for IT and Software jobs that focuses on direct communication between company and client.

I think this is a valid idea, the guys I work with agree, the problem I have is how would I even go about advertising something like this? How would I get SE's on board as well as companies?

I'm hoping someone here has some pearls of wisdom that can help me with this because it's the one thing stopping me pushing ahead :-\

Also, if you think it's a good idea, please let me know and if you happen to a front end engineer and want to be involved, then please mention it, I hate front end work :-D

Interesting and appreciate that you're putting up here

There's no problem with your idea and I understand your concern

Things you might want to carry out:

    1. Put your feet into the shoes of a recruiter, and analyze why they're making money and help companies solve problems that you cannot see
    2. Try to get feedback from hiring managers at companies

Apart from Hired, you can also gain insight from companies like GetLinks, Wanted.jobs, Wantedly, Greenhouse, Angel List
