How to get your first 10 customers?

When starting out, one of the biggest challenges we face in our journey is how to attract those initial customers for our product.

You have a great idea, you launch it, but how do you get users to sign up for your product or service?

You might have heard about products or builders who launched and instantly attracted a large number of customers. However, this is rare. You need to take a step back and consider how your customers will discover what you've built and determine its value to them.

So, who and how do you approach these potential customers?

Step 1: Identify your target audience. Who are you building for? Do you know these people?

Step 2: Connect with your close networks on platforms like X and LinkedIn. Message them about your product or idea. This could include past colleagues, their networks, your followers, or even friends.

Step 3: Remember, it doesn’t always have to be family and friends, unless your solution addresses a common pain point among them.

Step 4: Visualize your customer persona.

Step 5: Identify who in your network fits that customer persona.

Step 6: Ask your network to introduce you to people who match that persona.

Step 7: Collect feedback, act on it, and request more feedback.

Step 8: Implement a feedback board using ProductLogz. Encourage users to share their feedback and make it visible and accessible for others to contribute their thoughts.

Step 9: Ask your first 4-5 users to recommend your product within their networks.

Building for users you can easily approach is always a good strategy. It's even better if you've already discussed your idea with some of them and confirmed it addresses a common pain point.

This approach can significantly reduce your efforts and guide you towards building the right solution, at least a basic version of it.

If you're offering a service, the best way to start is by offering it for free. Post about this in communities. Provide your service for free to a few customers in exchange for initial feedback and testimonials.
