How to handle emotional triggers and control reactions in conflicts (5 steps)

Conflicts—whether in business, teamwork, or daily life—often catch us off guard. Have you ever noticed how our reactions operate like automated code?
When an irritating situation repeats, our assessment, thoughts, emotions, and behavior remain completely unchanged. To break any negative program or destructive pattern, you have to disrupt its habitual operating algorithm. You need to radically change:

  1. Your perception of the situation on a mental level (beliefs and thoughts).
  2. Your habitual emotional responses (learning to generate neutral emotions).
  3. Your automatic physical actions linked to the trigger.
Where to start? The key tool is the pause. The moment you feel irritation, shift your attention away immediately (to an object, a point on the wall) or enter a "thought-stop" state for a few seconds. This interrupts the loop and prevents stress from hijacking your focus.
I recently put together a complete guide breaking down 5 levels of mastery—from dealing with random strangers in public to managing triggers with close ones and handling high-stress scenarios.
