You seem to have found the best tech guy on the planet.
Great! Now you’re ready to rock everything, you build plans, create milestones, assign tasks, the developer quits. Wait, what?
The developer leaves as he realizes your startup is not his fit.
The main question is: how to prevent yourself from these kinds of situations in the future?
1️⃣ Make sure you choose people who are ready to grow fast

The risks of working in a startup are enormous. Make sure a person is ready for this as much as possible.
2️⃣ Your team workers should be agile and adapt quickly

Focus on this while interviewing a candidate. For example, ask questions to check the adaptability, such as “how do you handle change,” “do you feel comfortable after changes that affect your work,” “what major problem have you encountered? how did you resolve it?” and so on.
3️⃣ No bureaucracy, no one will tell you what to do

Responsibility, huge impact, decision-making. You should describe this contrast to a person that used to work in big corporations. Everyone understands that until they have to work with it.
4️⃣ Cultural fit beats technical skills. Most of the time.

If you have a candidate that matches your values but needs a little more knowledge – go for making them an offer.
Get it right: it doesn’t mean you shouldn’t check technical skills. But if you have a doubt about which candidate to choose - the cultural fit is a green flag.
