I Built a Free Unit Converter That Covers More Than Just Basic Conversions

Like many developers, I often found myself searching for simple conversions while working on projects.

  • "70 kg to lbs"
  • "1024 MB to GB"
  • "25°C to Fahrenheit"
  • "Square meters to square feet"

Most converter websites either felt cluttered, were filled with intrusive ads, or offered only a single type of conversion.

So I decided to build UnitMorph.

What is UnitMorph?

UnitMorph is a free online unit conversion platform designed to provide fast, accurate, and easy-to-use converters across multiple categories.

It currently includes converters for:

  • Weight
  • Length
  • Area
  • Volume
  • Temperature
  • Data Storage
  • Speed
  • Time
  • Pressure
  • Energy
  • And many more.

One Tool I Use Frequently

One converter I personally use the most is the KG to LBS Converter.

Whether it's checking gym progress, reading product specifications, or working with international measurements, it's one of those conversions that comes up surprisingly often.

You can try it here:

What Makes It Different?

My focus wasn't just creating another calculator.

I wanted every converter to be:

  • Fast and lightweight
  • Mobile-friendly
  • SEO optimized
  • Easy to understand
  • Accurate enough for everyday use
  • Free without registration

Tech & Goals

The long-term goal is to build a growing library of conversion tools that people can rely on instead of searching for individual formulas every time.

Some ideas I'm working on include:

  • More conversion categories
  • Better search experience
  • Improved UI/UX
  • Faster page loading
  • Additional educational content alongside each converter

Looking for Feedback

I'd love feedback from the Indie Hackers community.

Some questions I'm thinking about:

  • Which conversion tools do you use most often?
  • Are there any categories I'm missing?
  • What features would make a converter website more useful for developers, students, or professionals?

Every suggestion is appreciated.

Thanks for reading! 🚀
