I built a NotebookLM Chrome extension because I kept losing the best things I found while building
I use NotebookLM like other builders use a notes app - except it actually thinks back at me.
I have notebooks for everything. One with launch strategies I've studied from other founders - YouTube videos from Marc Lou, Starter Story interviews, threads from here. One for SEO learnings. One for content ideas. One for every product I'm building.
The idea is simple: instead of forgetting what you read, you feed it to NotebookLM and ask questions.
It becomes your personal advisor trained on everything you've actually read and saved. Especially now that Gemini connects directly to your notebooks.
But there was a problem.
I'd be watching a Marc Lou video, or reading a launch post here on Indie Hackers, or mid-way through a ChatGPT conversation figuring out a pricing strategy - and I'd want to save it. Right now. Before I lost the thread.
What I had to do: stop, open a new tab, navigate to NotebookLM, find the right notebook, paste the URL, wait, come back.
By then I'd already lost where I was.
So I built Kaptex.io.
A NotebookLM Chrome extension with a side panel and a floating button that sits on top of the pages you're already on. One click and it's in the right notebook.

The thing that matters isn't the extension. It's what it unlocks: actually using what you find.
Most good content you read as a builder disappears into open tabs or a notes app you never check. NotebookLM is only useful if you build the habit of feeding it.
Kaptex makes that fast enough to actually happen.

This is a strong workflow pain because the real problem is not saving links. It is capturing useful context at the exact moment it appears, before the builder loses the thread. That is why the side panel/floating button matters more than the “Chrome extension” label.
I’d position Kaptex less as a NotebookLM helper and more as a knowledge capture layer for builders. NotebookLM is the brain, but Kaptex is the habit-forming input pipe. Without that, the best launch posts, videos, pricing notes, and strategy ideas still disappear into tabs.
The naming is worth thinking about too. Kaptex is short, but it sounds a little like a capture utility. If this grows into a broader builder knowledge/workflow layer, Xevoa.com would give it a cleaner platform-style brand instead of feeling tied to one extension use case.
