I built a spreadsheet tool forpeople who hate spreadsheets.Am I solving a real problem?
Hi everyone,
I'm a solo founder building SowReMai.
The idea came from watching people struggle with spreadsheet tasks that felt unnecessarily complicated.
Not because the tasks themselves were difficult, but because the solution often involved learning formulas, Power Query, pivot tables, lookups, and other spreadsheet features that many people never wanted to learn in the first place.
My assumption is that there are two types of spreadsheet users:
People who enjoy spreadsheets and want more power.
People who simply want the result and don't care how it's done.
I'm trying to build for the second group.
The goal isn't to replace Excel or Google Sheets. They're incredibly powerful tools.
The goal is to make common spreadsheet tasks easier for people who find traditional spreadsheet software overwhelming.
Before I spend the next few months building more features, I'd like to challenge my assumptions and get honest feedback from people who don't know me.
Do you think this is a real problem worth solving?
If not, what am I missing?

A lot of people don't dislike spreadsheets, they dislike getting stuck on the step between knowing what they want and figuring out how to do it.
One thing I've noticed is that importing and cleaning messy data is often more frustrating than formulas themselves.
What task are early users reaching for first when they open it?
I don't have enough active users yet to answer that with real usage data, so I don't want to guess.
That said, one workflow I've intentionally made very simple is data cleaning. A user can upload a file, review the suggested fixes, and clean duplicates, formatting issues, missing values, invalid emails, and similar problems in just a couple of steps.
My hypothesis is that cleaning messy data is one of the first jobs people want done because it's a common pain point before they can do any analysis or reporting. I'm still testing that assumption and looking for feedback from people who work with spreadsheets regularly.
