I built LogoSmith because I kept stalling on logos for my projects

Every time I started a new project, I hit the same wall: the logo.

  • Fiverr → too slow (days of waiting).

  • Canva → too clunky for quick MVPs.

  • AI image generators → random results that didn’t fit my app’s vibe.

I’m not a designer, I’m a dev. And every time, I found myself burning days trying to make something “good enough” before I could launch. That frustration became the motivation for LogoSmith.

It’s a small SaaS I just launched that works like a step-by-step configurator:

  • Type your app or project name

  • Pick fonts, colors, and style

  • Instantly get logo options you can export

My hope is that it helps indie hackers like me get moving without stalling on branding.

Right now:

  • It exports PNGs (working on SVG + brand kit next)

  • Pricing is indie-friendly ($3.99 for credits or unlimited at $14.99/mo)

  • A few early users so far 🎉

I’d love feedback from this community on two things:

  1. Is 1 free credit on signup enough to evaluate, or should I give away more?

  2. What would make a basic brand kit (colors, fonts, favicon, socials) genuinely useful for early-stage founders?

Congrats on your launch gadgetyou! I think giving a few more generations for free but having them watermarked could be an interesting approach! I see your biggest hurdle being people just generating the logo directly in ChatGPT, but if you provide more of a brand toolkit or full brand guidelines this could provide value that brands need that indie hackers may not consider.

Thanks a lot for the thoughtful feedback 🙏 The watermark idea is smart , that way people can see more variety without me giving everything away for free. I hadn’t considered it but it makes sense.

And you’re spot on about the brand toolkit, I’ve heard this a few times now. Going beyond just “a logo” into favicons, socials, and lightweight brand guidelines feels like the next logical step. Definitely planning to expand in that direction.

Congrats on launching LogoSmith! The step-by-step approach sounds super practical — I’ve had the same struggle of wasting days on logos instead of moving forward. Personally, I think 2–3 free credits would give people a better sense of variety before deciding to pay. And for the brand kit, quick exports for favicon + social profile images would be a game-changer for early founders.

      Great recommendation.

Really appreciate that! I know exactly what you mean, I’ve wasted whole weekends on logos myself instead of shipping. That pain was the motivation here.

I think you’re right about 2–3 free credits, it would give people more trust in the results. I’ll experiment with that. And yes, a simple brand kit with favicon + social assets is already on my roadmap. Hearing you call it a game-changer confirms I should prioritize it. Thanks for sharing your perspective 🙌
