I checked if 7 indie products show up in ChatGPT. None did. Here's the pattern

Over the past few days I asked ChatGPT "best tool for X" across 7 different categories.

Results: 0 out of 7 indie products appeared. Every single time, the same 5-6 established players dominated the answer.

The pattern is consistent: AI tools pull their recommendations from Reddit threads, comparison articles, and directory listings. If your product isn't mentioned in those sources, you're invisible to AI search. No matter how good your product is.

This is important because more buyers are skipping Google and asking ChatGPT directly. If you're not in the AI answers, you're losing potential customers you'll never even know about.

The fix isn't technical, it's about getting mentioned in the right places. Reddit threads in your category, comparison/listicle articles, and directories like G2 or AlternativeTo.
