I just launched Cllavio — an email marketing + email API platform built from scratch

Hey Indie Hackers,

After a long grind, I finally launched Cllavio — an email marketing platform + email API that I built from the ground up as a solo founder.

I started working on this because I kept seeing the same problem over and over:

  • small businesses paying too much for email tools,

  • SaaS founders hitting limits immediately,

  • developers fighting slow or outdated APIs,

  • deliverability being a black box,

  • and basic features locked behind crazy pricing.

Instead of complaining about it, I built my own solution.

What Cllavio does

  • Email marketing campaigns

  • Transactional email API (SMTP + REST)

  • Advanced analytics (opens, clicks, bounces)

  • Contact management

  • High-deliverability SMTP setup

  • Fair, simple pricing

  • Clean UI built for speed

  • Built-in authentication (SPF, DKIM, DMARC)

Everything is running on infrastructure I manage myself — Postfix on EC2, Spring Boot microservices, RabbitMQ, Next.js frontend, and React Native for the companion app.

Why I built it

Because existing tools felt bloated and overpriced.
Founders shouldn’t need enterprise budgets just to send emails reliably.

I wanted something:

  • simple

  • fast

  • transparent

  • affordable

  • developer-friendly

  • and genuinely deliverable to inboxes, not spam folders

The hard part

Building an email platform from scratch is way harder than it looks:

  • running SMTP servers

  • warming up IPs

  • managing bounces

  • tracking opens/clicks

  • email rendering issues

  • throttling rules

  • deliverability reputation

  • domain verification

  • analytics accuracy

  • queue workers

  • EC2 scaling

  • UI/UX polish

  • production reliability

There were days where I legitimately thought: “Why am I even doing this?”
But I kept going.

Where it is today

Cllavio is live, working, and already sending real emails for real businesses.
It’s still early, but it’s stable and improving every day.

What’s next

  • Growth

  • More integrations

  • More analytics

  • Automation features

  • Better onboarding

  • More customer feedback

If anyone here wants to test it, break it, give feedback, or just follow the journey, I’d genuinely appreciate it.

Thanks IH — I’ve learned a lot from watching other founders build publicly.
Now it’s my turn to do the same.

Your product looks great. I noticed there’s no customer chat yet — I’ve actually been building a small AI-powered one that’s free for now and quick to add. If you're curious, I can send it over.
