I launched a design roasting service

Hey guys,

I'm proud to announce the launch of Roasti.co.

Roasti is a platform that offers constructive criticism and feedback on design files and websites, providing senior-level support to enhance design quality and achieve pixel perfection.

Let me share the backstory behind the creation of Roasti. About four months ago, I came across Roastd when they launched on Product Hunt, and thought it was a clever concept. Fast forward to two weeks ago, I relaunched my design agency Designfly (Initially launched in 2018 inspired by Brett from DJ), and invited the IH community to roast my website, and received a ton of valuable feedback.

This led me to create a post on IH, asking others to drop their links so that I could critique their sites as well. The response was overwhelming with more than 100 submissions, which inspired me to create Roasti. With over 10 years of design experience, I wanted to provide senior-level design support without the high cost of hiring me directly. Roasti is a lightweight, streamlined version of Roastd, focused specifically on design critique and the small details that truly make a difference in high-quality design.

I would love for you guys to try out Roasti and provide feedback on the service or anything else you notice that can be improved. I have kept the price point affordable for most creators like yourselves, with a minimum order of $2.50. I want this to be a fun collaborative project, and I'm looking forward to roasting your designs and hearing your feedback.

P.S. For those who submitted their sites on my earlier post, I am still working through all of them, and you can expect your free roast soon. 🤙

Great concept dude! I saw the original post and it was really impressive to see the engagement!

Do you mind if I ask how you learned to find different art direction styles for your projects?

Thanks, man! I was impressed as well so I hustled to create Roasti in just a few days. As for finding different art directions, it's a process that evolves naturally as I dive into creative work, including music production - you can call it “flow state”. When I start working on a project and exploring various ideas, it's like a floodgate of inspiration opens up. I work fast, and through rapid iteration, I explore different concepts until I find the one that resonates the most.

Having a strong background in branding design and launching multiple businesses of my own has definitely allowed me to refine my skills and become a design ninja. I’m already thinking of my next idea.😝

    Hey Bradley,

I really love your concept - especially the figma part

I just have one doubt - the pricing is way too low

I'm aware, you're trying to have your services be affordable, but the price also suggests the quality of your work

In my opinion - you don't have to agree with that, you have 2 paths:

    1. either go hardcore on proving your authority:
    • adding a lot of social proof
    • adding more copy, emphasizing WHY the pricing is so low. Something like: Get your website feedback worth $300+, for a fraction of its price. Even the smallest of businesses should be able to get high-quality websites bringing thousands of dollars of revenue.
    • show off your expertise: 10 years of web design expertise. 1,000+ websites made. Over $1,000,000 in additional revenue generated through our websites, etc
    1. Or at least 3X your pricing and see if it works

    2. Both at the same time

    These are just quick suggestions
I hope it will help ;)

Thanks so much for your input! My plan is exactly that. #3, but gradually as the demand increases, adding reviews and before and after shots. I've been able to get my first paid client with this rate, so just testing the waters and trying to get real feedback from paid users before I start hiking up the price. Do you have a design I can roast? I would love for you to try it out and give me your feedback.

What an idea bro! That's amazing! The website looks fu*king awesome and that ⚠⚠ danger line coming on the page is looking fire 🔥🔥 Although good, but do you plan to make this free in the future for small creators or beginners?

Thanks so much! I'm glad you're enjoying it, it's been a lot of fun working on this project. I'm planning on dishing out free roasts periodically on IH to help out the community, but I'm still backed up with requests from my previous free roast post, so once I work through those I may create another post, the response was insane.
